There are a lot of “know it all” people in this world who love to offer you their advice. This can be very dangerous when one of those people is in a position of authority to influence you. Mine came in the form of a school guidance counselor. He never really took any time to get to know me, or understand any of the difficulties in my life. If he had any wisdom to offer me he would have known my situation was different than other students.
My situation involved being a Pastor’s child moving from state to state and many schools. When I moved to the region in 6th grade, I could barely understand the accent of the people here. Their diction was horrible, and I would have to decipher what they were saying. Yes, they were trying to speak English, and yes, I grew up speaking English, but in this region, they forget to finish their words. I eventually grew to understand them, though I never really liked their style of speaking. They also love to speak with slang and sarcasm. I am not a fan of either. Jesus Christ didn’t use sarcasm or slang either.
Putting all of that aside, I became a very active music student in high school, and I was pretty good at accompanying as a pianist for the many musical ensembles through competitions, school musicals, and concerts. When I graduated, I was given a small music scholarship. It was a good thing I didn’t listen to that guidance counselor who told me, “Don’t go to college, honey. You are not college material.” He actually called me “honey” which was very condescending and sexist. I never would have listened to his advice, and I went to college because I knew that was what I needed to do.
I went to a Christian School in the Chicago area, which was far from home, and although they have their own accent, at least they finished their words and spoke without using sarcasm or slang. I found that very reassuring, and I studied hard. After 4 1/2 years, I was able to get my B.A. in Music Education though I considered myself to be more of a musician than teacher.
In January, after I graduated, my high school music teacher gave me some good advice. She said, “you should look for a job working at a church. They need people who can teach them what you have learned. ” She was right. At age 22, I became an Organist/Choir Director for a Congregational Church. I stayed at that position for 15 years, and made many friends. I got to be a musician and teacher just like I learned in college. During this time I was also able to teach piano and voice privately in a Music Studio.
At the church, we had a very kind, loving pastor for the time I was there and when he retired, I knew it was time to move on. After the birth of my second son, I decided to leave church work, and teach full time for a public school. Since finances were not an issue, I also left the studio, transferring my students to a colleague.
During this period, I focused on raising my children. We went to several different churches, and I sang a little with some church choirs. I didn’t really know what I was searching for. I believed in GOD, and Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, but I didn’t really have a sense of belonging. It was then that the calling began.
A local pastor from a different church called me, asking me to help fill in for Weddings and other special church services. I helped them a few times, and he asked me to come and work for them. I declined, saying that I had enough work, and needed to take care of my children. However, GOD must have been speaking to this pastor, and he asked me several more times to reconsider. Eventually, I decided to help them because God reminded me that my gifts, and my education were from him.
Not long afterwards, I got laid off from my current teaching job. It was a good thing I already had the church job to support my family. It was a very difficult time, for several financial reasons, and I spent much time studying the Bible to find comfort and guidance. Up until this time, I never really had a personal relationship with GOD. I served Him as a servant of the church, not as a Child of God. Then, a big secret was revealed to me, I wasn’t a baptized Christian, only dedicated to God as Jesus was in the Hebrew tradition. I think that is why GOD sent me to that church, so I could become a Child of God!
So how do you go from being a servant to a Child of GOD? You study the scriptures! The Psalms were especially comforting to me. Here is Psalm 139, verses 1-18, 23-24 entitled For The Director Of Music (how appropriate for me!)
For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.
~You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you … Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.~
As I studied the Bible, I started to understand GOD as the Creator of the Universe, and then I started to pray. I learned that special peace that can only be found in prayer, and in understanding the Ways of Elohim, GOD the Creator. I also learned how to pray using the Bible, and found that The Holy Spirit is forever present, because of JESUS CHRIST, the Messiah!
~All who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God~ John 1:12
~Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” ~John 20:21-22
~For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ. ~Romans 8:14-17
My journey is still continuing as my love of the Bible scriptures still grow. Now I understand that the BIBLE is the Revelation of JESUS CHRIST as The Love of GOD.
Now and forever, I am no longer just a servant, but a Child of God who chooses to serve because I belong to Him. I was called from before I was born, but I needed to answer the call. I am glad GOD was patient with me, and so I will be ~Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer~ Romans 12:12 Amen.
It’s hard to believe that our Roman Calendar year has come to an end. For me, it’s been a year of ups and downs, particularly in the last month of December.
For those of you who don’t know, my primary employment is in a church. Our church welcomed a new pastor, and we were working on building a Youth Ministry. My job this year was to build a Youth Choir. I can’t help but wonder if this in why the month of December was so difficult. We started rehearsing in November, and actually finished the year today. In January, we will continue.
As I reflected on the many difficulties of this past month, I decided to focus on the good things of the year. Here are my highlights:
- A chance to work in building God’s Kingdom with the young and the old.
- A GOD who loves us, forgives, and always shows me He is watching over us.
- New and continuing friendships to keep me close to GOD
- My parents, for their wisdom, love, and help
- My son visiting for ThanksGiving
- My sister and her family visiting for Christmas
- My half, new roof and house siding repair before winter
- Two growing Choirs at church
- My private music students and the studio to teach them in
- Food to eat and share with others
- A house to share with those who had nowhere else to stay
- Healthcare in the time of illness
- Time to spend learning, studying, and sharing the WORD of GOD, The BIBLE
Thank You LORD, for another year. I wonder if you have anything to share about your year? Now, as we go forward in a new calendar year, May …
The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)
This is a very troubling year, with so many disasters and protests. So many people are looking for an understanding of how to deal with the emotions that evolve from situations in their lives. When someone asks me if I am depressed, I always say NO! I have GOD to keep me from getting depressed. That doesn’t mean I do not get sad or frustrated, it just means I cry out to GOD, and I know He hears me. The answer is always quick to follow.
When GOD wants you to do something, you will know. A situation will present itself, and you will need to ask GOD what to do. Do not be afraid, but with an open heart and an open mind, pray. Praying in all situations will always supply the answer you need. Just remember to thank GOD for hearing your prayer and understanding your situation, your heart, and your mind.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. ~Philippians 4:6
If GOD shows you someone in need, you need to help them. Pray first, and ask GOD what HE wants you to do. Sometimes, GOD will have another person ask you. Their heart will be sincere, and you will know that they are asking out of love for the other person.
As I have said before, my house has been a place of shelter for many. They just seem to show up, needing a safe place for a day, a night, or a year. They were often embarrassed to ask for anything. I learned to always have an extra pizza in the freezer, and maybe some fresh coffee cake or brownies. They may already have a sleeping bag and pillow, and they may not. If they don’t, they may not even ask for a blanket. Have them clean and ready!
I am saying this, because GOD may send you some house guests for awhile. It may be your turn to help the poor and the homeless. They may break things, and take up a lot of space. They may be sick, and sloppy. Just show them love, and hope that they are grateful. Then, open your ears and listen, because they will have a story to tell.
There will be many poor and homeless … open your heart and your mind and JUST HELP if GOD sends them to you.
‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’
Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’
The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ ~ Matthew 25:34-40
I know that if you follow the advice of JESUS CHRIST, our MESSIAH …
Your reward will be GREAT in Heaven!
I was in sixth grade when I moved to a city in my region. As Salvation Army Officers, my parents moved every three years. As a shy child, I was awkward with thick glasses, and a bit chubby. I didn’t really know anyone in the neighborhood, so I used to walk to school and back home by myself. Since I walked alone, I was an easy target for bullies.
One day, as I was walking home I noticed a group of four students following me. They did this for two days. On the first day, I was very afraid they were going to beat me up, so I just walked faster. The second day, they got very close to me and I was sure they were going to hurt me. It was then, that I turned around and screamed at them.
I didn’t use English, or any other language I knew. In fact, I think it was total gibberish that came out of my mouth. Was I screaming in “tongues” ? Perhaps I was. All I know is that they never bothered me again.
If someone is bullying you, Stand up to them. GOD will give you the words to say, just ask Him! Hopefully, you will not have to scream like I did.
Do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. ~Matthew 10:19
The LORD shall preserve you from all evil: he shall preserve your soul. The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore. ~Psalm 121:7-8
My hearts aches when I see GOD’s people supporting agendas that do not reflect GOD’s Laws. They have sold their soul to the devil by supporting laws that hurt people. Money and greed have overtaken the political structure. When I see a Minister, Reverend, Rabbi, or Priest teaching politics to their flock, this is the scripture that comes to my mind:
Woe be unto the shepherds that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! says the LORD. Therefore thus says the LORD God of Israel against the shepherds that feed my people; You have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, says the LORD. And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries where I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, says the LORD. ~Jeremiah 23:1-4
I cannot support anyone in government who continually lies or misleads the people. Nor can I listen to people who speak insults. Their arrogant pride brings this scripture to my mind:
Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. ~1 Corinthians 4-7
We are called to be like JESUS, our Messiah; we are called to be the Children of GOD. When we leave this world, its ugly politics, and all our possessions will not matter. At the end of our lives, NO POLITICIAN WILL MATTER! What will matter is if we have listened and heeded the 10 Commandments given to Moses. They really help me remember how to live:
Then God spoke all these words, saying,
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
~~You shall have no other gods before Me.
~~You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
~~You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.
~~Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who [e]stays with you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
~~ “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.
~~ You shall not murder.
~~You shall not commit adultery.
~~You shall not steal.
~~You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
~~You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor. ”
Jesus Christ, Our Messiah simplified The Ten Commandments into these TWO Greatest COMMANDMENTS, in the GOSPEL of Matthew 22:37-40
“‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”
Anyone who teaches politics in church or in Social Media as a mentor from GOD has broken the First and Second commandment. They need to return to their vows, that they will Serve GOD First by teaching the GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST!
BE LIKE CHRIST!
Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that AT THE NAME OF JESUS EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD, to the Glory of GOD the Father. ~Philippians 2:1-11
When I first joined Twitter, I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions. As the years went by and my followers grew, The SPIRIT of The LORD reminded me that HE is more important than anything I could say. My opinions began to pale in comparison to sharing The GOSPEL of The Lord JESUS Christ. I began to realize that the @sparrowkeeper was actually just a Child of GOD.
“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God” (Romans 8:14)
So what does being a Child of GOD mean to me personally? Well, it means that I must be able to discern what is from The Holy SPIRIT and what is from humans. The Holy BIBLE tells me: “by their fruits you will know them” (Matthew 7:20)
What fruit is that? It’s in Galatians 5:22-23 ~ the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Anger, fear-mongering, hate, lies, half-truths, personal judgements, false accusations, are NOT Christian values. The Holy BIBLE reminds us many things in Chapter 7 of the Book of Matthew:
“Stop judging, that you may not be judged. For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you.” (Matthew 7:1-2)
The Golden Rule. (Matthew 7:12) “Do to others whatever you would have them do to you.”
The True Disciple. (Matthew 7:21-23) “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’ Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.’
The Book of Galatians also offers much wisdom:
Galatians 5:16-21 “Walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.
Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
A true Christian must be willing to follow in the example of The LORD JESUS CHRIST.
Here is The GREAT COMMISSION from Matthew 28: 16-20 ~> “Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”
Over the years, I have learned how to discern who truly is a Child of GOD. I do not follow, or listen to anyone else. The BIBLE tells me that “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” (Romans 8:15-16)
I have learned that it is better to study my BIBLE, pray, and listen, than to study conspiracy theories, or fear/hate mongerers. I only have time to do my best to do what JESUS tells me to do in Matthew 25:34-40:
‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
Put yourselves in order, pay attention to my advice, be of one mind, live in shalom — and the God of love and shalom will be with you. (2 Corinthians 13:11)
Many years ago …
My Mother was expecting her 3rd child. She already had 2 beautiful little girls, one just barely a year old. So she was hoping GOD would send her a son. So she ate lots of food, and gained lots of weight, and kept telling herself, “I know this one is going to be a boy!” Back in those days, there were no ultrasounds to tell you the sex of the baby, so she hoped for 9+ months.
After an extra long pregnancy, my “birthday” came. Nine pounds and 10 ounces of “all girl!” Everyone kept telling her, it was for the best since she already had lots of “girl” clothes from my sisters, and my mother was especially good at making us look like girls with the frilly dresses, and night-time curlers in our hair. That was because hot rollers and curling irons hadn’t been invented yet!
Now, as the third child, you know I had enough of the frilly dresses, so around 12 years old, I decided to become a bit of a tom-boy. Blue jeans soon became all colored jeans, and I think I had every color in the spectrum. I loved those multi-colored Levi jeans and my Converse sneakers! As a minister’s child, I had to wear a dress to church, and that was the only time I did!
I played tennis, took swimming lessons, rode my bicycle, and did gymnastics in the street, jumped rooftops, and dressed as unfrilly as I could! I even took accordion, piano, and clarinet lessons because my parents made me! My sisters and I all had to be part of the school Marching Band, but I rebelled! I decided, NO MORE clarinet lessons for me, and NO MORE Marching Band!
The Chorus Teacher at High School asked if I was someone’s sister and if I played the piano, and I said yes, so she taught me how to accompany the Chorus during and after school. She was young, and very kind to me, even taking me to work after school, so I could keep buying myself those ungirly jeans and sneakers. I practiced my piano part for the Chorus Music every day, especially when no one was home. I would even sing and play, and sometimes I would hear noises outside and notice the neighbors sitting out on their porches! They were my neighborhood audience!
It was then that I learned how to dress like a girl. We had to wear Formal Chorus outfits. They were long, formal dresses. It never bothered me one bit, since I had an important job to do, playing those 10 and 12ft. Concert Grand Pianos at concerts and competitions. I think that was when I decided it was ok to be a girl!
Before long, I headed out to college to become a Music Teacher so I could teach others to play the piano, just like my Chorus Teacher did for me. It was in college that I became a Chorus and Piano Teacher, yet still a Chorus Accompanist! My life was never the same after I left home to study, and I never really went home again for long. I had found my calling!
In case, you are wondering … My Mother did have a 4th child! Sorry Mom! Another Girly Girl for you, since you did such a good job with the others! She never had that boy of her own, so GOD gave her 3 Grandsons! Oh, WOW, did she spoil them!
She waited a long time for those boys…
It is so hard for me to wake up early. I am just NOT a Morning Person. It is a good thing someone discovered a way to brew coffee, or I would be even worse!
Just a couple days ago, even though I set four alarms on my phone, I still managed to leave late for an early morning Church Service. When I finally got out the door, ten minutes past my ideal travel time, my car was covered in a sheet of ice. Yep! I had to get out the ice scraper, making me even later.
When I finally got to church, though 15 minutes early, I needed to introduce some new songs. I wanted to make it special, so I used my CD player instead of the piano. Come to find out, the church was so cold, my comrades told me the music was WAY TOO LOUD due to sympathetic vibration.
Then, when the singer told me she needed to transpose down a couple of songs, I redialed the transposer UP one for the first song. I didn’t notice until after the intro, and I had to just leave it alone. I’ve never done that song in that key before! All the while, I was freezing cold, praying my way through, trying to wake up. It seemed like every bone in my body hurt from the cold!
When I decided I better take the CD player and put it away, I moved the button to the radio position, and it blasted out in the middle of the Statement of Faith. No one said anything, and I asked if they heard it, and they said no…… all the while I was thinking, HOW COULD THEY HAD NOT HEARD IT? It was LOUD !!!!
So before the second service, I went to my car to get some French vanilla coffee, warmed it up in the church kitchen, and went back to my car to drink my coffee and eat a Cookies and Cream poptart, and an apple! Then I got a call that a singer for the next service was sick, and the scheduled singer had already called to take the day off because it was her birthday.
I just kept reminding myself that JESUS is Worthy!
All the while, I just kept praying …. and the second service was beautiful!
It turns out that even my phone was glitched and I wasn’t able to access, or get any other messages. The next day, I finally reset the cellular data, and then I got all these messages … THANKS BE TO GOD for His FORGIVENESS and MERCY!
When I was young, I really didn’t understand the 10 Commandments given to the Hebrews through the prophet Moses. Many generations have continued to stress their importance in living a life that respects GOD and others.
I love reviewing them and applying them to my thoughts and actions. Though I am far from perfect, I feel that the 10 Commandments help me stay accountable to GOD and keep me on track with HIS WAYS!
I am including them for me, and you, in the old fashioned King James Version. Open your heart, and your mind, and see if these ancient commands from GOD help you live a life that keeps you in GOD’s Ways too!
The 10 Commandments from Moses can be found in Exodus 20:3-17
Verse #3: Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth:
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
This commandment includes this like OMG, and JESUS!
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:
11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour’s.
May the LORD bless you and Keep you ~Numbers 6:24
I love focusing on the Bible when my mind and heart are troubled. The Psalms especially give us words to pray, and words of advice and encouragement in stressful times. Here is PSALM 37 (NKJV) … full of Bible Promises! Just Believe and Pray!
Do not fret because of evildoers,
Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,
And wither as the green herb.
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.
7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret—it only causes harm.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off;
But those who wait on the Lord,
They shall inherit the earth.
10 For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more;
Indeed, you will look carefully for his place,
But it shall be no more.
11 But the meek shall inherit the earth,
And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
12 The wicked plots against the just,
And gnashes at him with his teeth.
13 The Lord laughs at him,
For He sees that his day is coming.
14 The wicked have drawn the sword
And have bent their bow,
To cast down the poor and needy,
To slay those who are of upright conduct.
15 Their sword shall enter their own heart,
And their bows shall be broken.
16 A little that a righteous man has
Is better than the riches of many wicked.
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
But the Lord upholds the righteous.
18 The Lord knows the days of the upright,
And their inheritance shall be forever.
19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time,
And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
20 But the wicked shall perish;
And the enemies of the Lord,
Like the splendor of the meadows, shall vanish.
Into smoke they shall vanish away.
21 The wicked borrows and does not repay,
But the righteous shows mercy and gives.
22 For those blessed by Him shall inherit the earth,
But those cursed by Him shall be cut off.
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;
For the Lord upholds him with His hand.
25 I have been young, and now am old;
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,
Nor his descendants begging bread.
26 He is ever merciful, and lends;
And his descendants are blessed.
27 Depart from evil, and do good;
And dwell forevermore.
28 For the Lord loves justice,
And does not forsake His saints;
They are preserved forever,
But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land,
And dwell in it forever.
30 The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom,
And his tongue talks of justice.
31 The law of his God is in his heart;
None of his steps shall slide.
32 The wicked watches the righteous,
And seeks to slay him.
33 The Lord will not leave him in his hand,
Nor condemn him when he is judged.
34 Wait on the Lord,
And keep His way,
And He shall exalt you to inherit the land;
When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
35 I have seen the wicked in great power,
And spreading himself like a native green tree.
36 Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more;
Indeed I sought him, but he could not be found.
37 Mark the blameless man, and observe the upright;
For the future of that man is peace.
38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together;
The future of the wicked shall be cut off.
39 But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
He is their strength in the time of trouble.
40 And the Lord shall help them and deliver them;
He shall deliver them from the wicked,
And save them,
Because they trust in Him.
